 Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical procedure that treats hair loss. The procedure involves using a micro-needle and ink to implant pigment into the scalp replicating the natural hair follicles or micro hair. It is a highly advanced form of pigmentation technique replicating the appearance of a new hairline and thicker hair. 

Our incredibly realistic and specialized treatment takes on average 2~3 sessions spread over a few weeks and each session can take approximately 2-5 hours. 

 Scalp Micropigmentation is classed as a permanent treatment.  However, each client’s skin and scalp and lifestyle are uniquely different; they can experience varying degrees of fading over time due to various factors such as sun exposure, skin cell regeneration, and the body’s immune response. We recommend a short touch-up every 3-6 years. This can be good because it allows for adjustments as your preferences evolve. 

 No, Scalp Micropigmentation is a highly specialized treatment, the technique, machine, needle and pigment used are all different from what is used in a regular tattoo.  SMP treatments use a needle that only penetrates 1.5 to 2.0 millimeters into the upper dermis whereas regular tattoos are applied into the deeper layers of the skin which can result in more side effects, including a higher risk of infection and allergic reaction, blotches and longer recovery time.
 

 No, MicroCanvas don’t use pigments responsible for the blue green discolouration found in conventional tattooing. We use pigments designed just for Scalp Micropigmentation hair tattoos. THe color may get a little lighter over the years, but will not change color or form blobs.  

 All treatments at MicroCanvas SMP include 3 sessions and a 12 month guarantee. However, any style or color changes to your original treatment are chargeable at an hourly rate.

 Almost anyone concerned about thinning hair is a good candidate for SMP, unless they have a skin condition like psoriasis. We recommends clients only seek SMP if they and their doctors think their condition won’t get any worse.

Most clients rate SMP treatment as 3-5 on a pain scale of 1 to 10, with 1 representing a minor scratch and 10 like a major burn.  Some clients have fallen asleep during the procedure, but most describe a mild level of discomfort. The least painful areas are the apex of the scalp and the back crown while the most painful areas are the areas right above the ears.
To enhance comfort and minimize any potential discomfort, a topical anesthetic can be applied to the scalp prior to the procedure. This numbs the area, ensuring that the experience is as pain-free as possible.

Scalp Micropigmentation requires no downtime as it is a non-invasive treatment. We do recommend you avoid rubbing your head or sweating heavily for 3~4 days after each session.
